Until now, the Czechs have been conspicuous by their absence at Eurovision, being the only major east European country not to have taken part at all. However, the country has finally succumbed, and will make its début appearance in the Semi Final in Helsinki.

What I said prior to the Semi Final:
"In a year where Eurovision is chock full of rock songs, the Czechs have gone the full extreme by sending men with long hair and real drums - proper heavy metal, if you like. Though I welcome how Eurovision seems to be opening itself up to a wider range of musical genres, 'Malá dáma' certainly isn't the kind of thing I'd usually listen to, so it's difficult for me to judge whether it's any good or not. However, it's tempting to see Kabát as Lordi without the masks, but performing a song that probably lacks the crossover appeal of 'Hard rock hallelujah'."

What I predicted prior to the Semi Final:
"If the polls and betting are to be believed, the Czechs are unlikely to be making much of a splash with their first ever Eurovision entry. There's always potential for a surprise, of course, but I have to follow the crowd with this one and suggest that the Czech Republic will find itself at or near the bottom of the Semi Final scoreboard."

In the run up to the Contest, 1,274 visitors to this site awarded points to their favourite songs in the Soult.com Eurovision Jury Vote 2007, voting as a representative of their own country's 'jury'. The votes awarded by representatives of each country were totalled, with each of the 42 participating countries (plus the 'Rest of the World') then awarding points - 12, 10, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - based on the overall voting preference of its representatives.
