What I said prior to the Semi Final:
"The Armenian media and the German newspaper Bild had reported - erroneously as it turned out - that Armenia's first attempt at Eurovision would be performed by 18-year old Meri Voskanian, a contestant from the German version of Pop Idol, Deutschland sucht den Superstar. In fact, the honour falls to the Andre, a popular singer in Armenia, and who recently won his country's award for 'best male singer' and will perform ''Without your love' (in English) in Athens.
The Armenians have certainly put a great deal of effort and enthusiasm into their selection, and have even created a splendid website to chart the whole process of the country's first participation "in one of the most famous European TV projects". Quite accurately, the website describes 'Without your love' as a "beautiful love song which is a mixture of modern and ethnic elements, which is very touching and fascinating, amazing and melodic". Indeed, the song is really rather good - a bit of Ricky Martin, a bit of this years' Albanian entry, a bit of 'Lane moje' and a bit of Ruslana, whisked together into a catchy and highly enjoyable confection with a distinctly Armenian flavour.
It's not all about the song though - it is quite humbling to read how Armenia's broadcaster sees its Eurovision participation as "making a serious step towards the integration to the European family". Here in the UK it is easy to scoff, and forget how many countries perceive the Contest as a once-a-year opportunity to showcase their culture and ambitions to a Europe-wide audience. So, let's give Armenia a warm welcome to Eurovision, and hope that the country's song scores more points than its dreadful Irish namesake from 2001. I rather suspect that it will... "

My prediction for Semi Final: 11th to 13th
My prediction for Final: Possible qualifier
What I predicted prior to the Semi Final:
"As well as having the honour of singing his country's first ever Eurovision entry, Andre will also open the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, with Armenia performing first in the Semi Final. This is not a good draw at all - it is always hard to open the show, and Finland and Austria both floundered from this position in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Listening to 'Without your love' and watching the preview video, it's clear that Armenia really has come up with a pretty strong début entry. However, I fear it just lacks that extra sparkle that would allow televoters to remember it after hearing 22 subsequent songs. I think Armenia will come close, but my hunch is that Andre will finish around 11th to 13th, just missing out on a place in the Final. "

What you thought...
In the run up to the Contest, 1,721 visitors to this site awarded points to their favourite songs in the Soult.com Eurovision Jury Vote 2006, voting as a representative of their own country's 'jury'.
